Yarriambiack Shire Council received $200,000 to construct new change rooms at the Murtoa Swimming Pool, incorporating disabled toilet and shower facilities, an office, kiosk and first aid area.
Horsham Rural City Council received $200,000 to replace the concrete hob surrounding the 50-metre outdoor pool at Horsham Aquatic Centre with a wet deck.
Horsham council’s community service director Kevin O’Brien said this would improve access and safety and resolve current pool leakage issues.
He expected work to start in the next financial year.
Member for Western Victoria Jaala Pulford encouraged the community to embrace an active and healthy lifestyle at the pool.
“Grassroots sporting clubs and facilities like the Horsham and Murtoa pools are the lifeblood of our towns and they deserve modern, accessible and safe facilities,” she said.
