Boorang and Dimboola branches have hosted successful Australia Day celebrations. Boorang was happy with the support and guest speaker, while the ever-reliable brass band made the morning go well.
Dimboola branch hosted the morning tea and Hindmarsh Shire celebrations. The Dimboola/Nhill Brass Band played a selection of tunes while people gathered for morning tea and a chat. Margaret Menzel, Dimboola president, was MC for the day which began with the affirmation of allegiance and raising of the flag by mayor Ron Ismay with help from Girl Guides. Indigenous elder Aunty Nancy Harrison welcomed all to the country.
Australia Day ambassador Maree Caldow, a harness racing trainer from Melton, was inspirational.
Dimboola College captains, Danni Haebich and Taistan Rayes spoke on what Australia means to them, giving us great hope in our youth of the future.
The Dimboola citizen of the year featured joint winners, Sharon Cook and Amanda Ingeme, for their work in the town, while the junior award went to Danni Haebich for her volunteer work in the town.

Serviceton, 1st Tuesday of month at Serviceton Bowling Club at 1.30pm. “What I did for Christmas” and competition, colourful necklace.

Dimboola branch, 4th Friday each month at 2pm. Craft, 1st Tuesday at 10am. Meeting earlier for this month (16th) competition: unusual jar or bottle.
Horsham evening branch, meets 1st Tuesday of month at 7.30pm.

February is extremely busy for state president Lynette Harris as she is on conference rounds, including West Wimmera, Central Wimmera and East Wimmera. We will have reports on conferences after they take place later this month.
