Aside from the men’s and women’s sides having a showdown with Bendigo at the weekend and the association’s small but dedicated band of volunteers working hard to host a very successful weekend, the domestic competition produced some red-hot basketball.
In the senior girls, Energy held off Charge by two points. Jasmine Johns hit Charges’ last bucket to draw within two but it wasn’t quite enough when time expired, Energy winning, 48-46.
In the under 14 boys game between the Kings and the Bullets, the Kings hung on to win by one point, with Freddy Frew nailing the winning basket. Kings won 39/38.
The under 12 boys saw the Bombers and the Swans fight out another one-point game. Gibson Perry finishing with the last three baskets for the Bombers which saw them win 35-34.
