Students and teachers arrived at the school at 8am to prepare for the day before the beginning of Lent.
The students also burnt palm branches from Palm Sunday in 2017.
Year six student Sophie Taylor said her family celebrated Shrove Tuesday at the school every year.
“We learn about Shrove Tuesday in religion and it’s kind of a fun day (before Lent),” she said.
Sophie said students were eating pancakes from 8am to almost 9am.
Year three student Dominik Trebicki said the best part of Shrove Tuesday was eating pancakes with his friends.
Xavier Hayden, year three, said he tried a combination of honey and sugar on one pancake and maple syrup and sugar on another.
The school’s religious education leader Anna Robertson said Shrove Tuesday was traditionally a day to use rich foods including butter and milk in households before Lent.
