FORMER Wimmera footballer Tom McDonald has been dropped from Melbourne Football Club’s leadership group for the upcoming AFL season.

McDonald joined the leadership group in 2016 and remained in the group last season.

Melbourne has opted for a smaller leadership group this season in an effort to improve communication.

Nathan Jones and Jack Viney remain as co-captains, with Max Gawn and Jordan Lewis stepping up as vice-captains.

Along with McDonald, Bernie Vince has also been cut from the Demon’s leadership group.

Melbourne starts their season on March 25 against Geelong at the MCG.
