Wimmera Machinery Field Days 2018: Agrifac booms sprays get people talking

BOOM sprays measuring close to 50 metres in width caught the eyes of many at the Wimmera Machinery Field Days on Wednesday. 

Agrifac – a company established in The Netherlands – showcased a range of booms at the annual event. The company focuses on products that increase food productivity on existing farmland in a sustainable way.

James Fox was among the Agrifac staff on hand at the field days to speak to clients and potential customers.

“We’re based all over the country really. We don’t have a dealer network as such, but service agents around Australia that look after our machines,” Mr Fox said.

“We work mainly from Perth and southern Queensland, and then have territory managers in NSW, Queensland on so on.

“We’ve been out here in Australia for four and a half years now.

“We’re targeting bigger areas – up to 55-metre booms and 8000 litres.”

Mr Fox said the company was also promoting a range of new technologies in its products, including its StrictSprayPlus system in boom sprays.

The system is designed to help farmers apply the perfect amounts of spray, through using single nozzle sections, turn compensation and pressure independent rate control.

Mr Fox said this was designed to use less chemicals, meaning less costs for farmers.

“It’s about trying to be more efficient,” he said.

“It’s not going bigger as such in tanks, but bringing chemical costs down, and costs for the farmer to as little as possible.

“It’s also about the environmental side of things too with efficiencies – hopefully covering the paddocks less.”

Mr Fox said the company exhibited at the field days a few years ago, before taking a break last year and coming back in 2018.

He said the event was more about fielding inquiries than machinery purchases.

“Customers will come and say hello, and it’s about getting our name out there too,” he said.

“We’re a fairly young company who are working towards growing.”
