Wimmera Machinery Field Days 2018: Site award winners announced | Video, Photos

CLAAS Harvest Centre claimed top honours in the Wimmera Machinery Field Days awards for 2018.

The centre, based at Lake Bolac, and long-time field days exhibitor won the machine of the year award for its Amazone Condor 12001 Air Seeder.

The awards were announced on Wednesday afternoon.

Field days manager Murray Wilson said judges spent a couple of days looking at all the machines to decide the winner.

“If you’re not directly involved in farming, you would probably give this award out about 50 times, because some of the stuff is so impressive out there,” he said.

“The amazing amount of machinery we’re able to attract to this field days really shows that the event and this area has such a strong connection to broadacre farming and focusing for the future, and we really pride ourselves on being a key field days for that industry.”

​CLAAS sales manager Jade Hawker thanked the field days committee for the award and for putting on a great show.

He also thanked Amazone product manager Craig Hopkins for bringing the Condor from Western Australia to the field days.

The agribusiness innovation of the year award went to Horsham Hydraulics' Tornado Harvester Airflow System.

The business’s Eddy Nagorcka said the team put a lot of time and effort into developing the product.

The team from Hermans Interiors in Horsham won the Country Gourmet Pavilion best exhibitor award.

This year’s display focused on Magimix, and the business had Magimix representatives at their site to showcase products.

Wimmera Health Care Group accepted the award for the best site in the Moore Exhibition Centre, while the team from Farmers Edge won the best site award for exhibitors in the Agrimarquee and the Alan Heard Pavilion.

Wahroonga won the best outdoor general site award, while the best general site went to Whites Rural.

Aussie Fire Buckets took out the Country Lifestyle Square best exhibit award, and DreamPot won the Country Lifestyle Marquee best site award.
