A woman in her 70s has been taken to Wimmera Base Hospital after she fell from a cliff along Mount Arapiles Summit Road at about 12.30pm on Thursday.
An Ambulance Victoria spokesperson confirmed she was taken to hospital by road ambulance with suspected injuries to her head, neck and legs.
Update, 5pm:
Ambulance Victoria has confirmed the woman is currently being assessed by paramedics.
Update, 4pm:
A Country Fire Authority spokesman has confirmed that the woman “walked away from the scene” after “self-rescuing herself”.
Ambulance Victoria can not confirm whether paramedics have assessed the woman for injuries.
Update, 2pm:
An Ambulance Victoria spokeswoman has confirmed a woman in her 70s fell from a cliff along Mount Arapiles Summit Road at about 12.30pm on Thursday.
The woman is conscious and breathing.
Paramedics have not yet assessed the woman but it suspected she sustained arm and head injuries from the fall.
Update, 1.10pm:
A Country Fire Authority spokesman confirms that Victoria Police, Ambulance Victoria, State Emergency Services and Country Fire Authority crews are currently undertaking a rescue operation after a person fell from a cliff at Mount Arapiles.
“Generally these kind of rescue operations take a while depending on access to the site and injuries,” he said.
Earlier, 12.50pm:
EMERGENCY services are responding to a possible fall at Mount Arapiles.
A State Emergency Services spokeswoman confirmed that a high-angle rescue was underway.
