Coming up against Pimpinio at home, the Swifts won easy 17.22 124 to 2.5 17 in wet conditions.
Swifts playing coach Scott Carey said it was a good way start to the season.
“It was a pretty hard contest for the first half,” he said. “Luckily we were able to open it up in the second and play some good team football.
“We saw glimpses of what we have been working on in the pre-season. It wasn’t a perfect performance, but it will be a work in progress. It’s good to see and now we can adjust a few things for next week.”
Defender Liam Scott was named best on ground for the Swifts.
“He was fantastic at centre half-back and really controlled the game well,” Carey said of Scott.
“Damon Folkes came in for his 100th game for the club from an ACL injury and it looks like he hasn’t missed a beat.”
