United started the game brilliantly with a dominant first quarter. The side was kicking with a strong breeze and kicked eight goals to zero in the opening term.
Borders regrouped and kicked five goals in the second quarter, while keeping Kaniva-Leeor scoreless.
The wind played a huge role in the game, as Kaniva-Leeor had the advantage again in the third quarter.
United kicked six goals in the term, with Border Districts unable to score at all during the quarter.
Border Districts had a solid last quarter, kicking four goals to United’s one, to decrease the margin. Shawn Mansell kicked four goals for Border Districts with Luke Nicholas kicking two.
For United, it was playing coach Nick Murphy who led from the front, kicking four goals for the game.
The Cougars sit second on the ladder with two wins from as many rounds, and will take on Keith on Saturday, while Border Districts will travel to Penola.
