Miss Green’s passion for doing make-up for family and friends gave her the confidence to officially launch her make-up career in the middle of 2017.
The self-taught artist is now a finalist in the 2018 Australian FACE Awards.
The competition involves make-up artists completing a series of video challenges, with the field gradually narrowed to the top six artists in the country, as voted by the public.
A final vote starting on July 2 will decide the winner, who will present a make-up tutorial at the annual FACE awards on July 14.
They will also receive $10,000 and a trip to the FACE Awards in Los Angeles later in the year.
The Australian competition started in March, and Miss Green was announced in the top 30 this month.
She entered after a friend tagged her in a post about the competition on Instagram.
“For a few months I’ve wanted to kick-start my YouTube account, so I thought I would give it a go,” she said.
“I had never filmed myself and haven’t got all the correct set-up, but I just went with what I had and let my creativity flow.
“I had to upload a 15-minute tutorial video on YouTube, and then NYX Cosmetics selected the top 30 for the chance to be artist of the year. Never did I think I would actually get through or even noticed.”
Miss Green’s first challenge is to create an avant garde look. She filmed her entry at the weekend.
Miss Green’s goal is to become a full-time mobile make-up artist, and continue to share her passion with others.
“For a long time I struggled with self-confidence and loving the person I am. Make-up really opened the doors to make myself feel more beautiful and I wanted to share that with everyone,” she said.
“I would love to work in a cast for a live show or play and create amazing crazy makeup looks, and work towards building a better platform with my socials and YouTube.
“I would really like to get the chance to go to beauty school and absorb more knowledge.”
Miss Green thanked for family and friends, and her clients, for giving her the confidence to pursue her dream.
“Without them I wouldn’t be where I am today,” she said.
“When people believe in you, it makes it easier to vanish self-doubt.”
