On Friday's trade, the All Ordinaries finished down 12.02 points or 0.2 per cent.
On Monday, A2 Milk (A2M) rose 1pc on news it is expanding in South Korea. The infant formula company signed an agreement with Yuhan; South Korea’s largest pharmaceutical company which will help promote and distribute its products. A2M finished the week on $11.94.
Seven West Media (SWM) slumped 10.3pc after announcing it had secured cricket broadcasting rights for six years in a deal worth $75m per annum. SWM ended the week on $0.53.
On Tuesday, AMP Limited (AMP) shares closed down 4.4pc to $4.55 as the wealth manager fronted the Royal Commission into the financial services sector. Bank of Queensland (BOQ) also declined, losing 2.4pc to $10.66 after reporting a 4pc rise in first-half cash profit of $182 million. The lender announced it’s selling its St Andrew's life insurance unit for $65 million. AMP ended the week on $4.30.
On Thursday, BHP gained 2.8pc following strong improvements in the price of iron ore. Australia’s largest miner also released its March quarterly update where iron ore production fell 6pc on the previous three months but up 8pc on the same time last year. BHP has also reduced its FY18 production guidance for iron ore. BHP ended the week on $30.86.
Australian Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd (API) which owns brands such as Priceline fell 2.3pc after its first half results. Both its underlying net profit after tax (NPAT) and earnings (EBIT) came in below the prior corresponding period by roughly 8pc each. API finished the week on $1.42.
At the close of weekly trading, the gold price finished at $1,338.30 per ounce, the WTI oil price traded at $68.40 a barrel, and the Australian dollar was worth US $0.7671.
In the US on Friday night, the Dow Jones finished down 201.95 points to end the week at 24,462.94. The Share Price Index (SPI) finished down 15 points at 5,833 which should lead to a negative start to today’s trade.
