The monthly event allows people to give away their unwanted fresh food to a new home. It’s also a great place to pick up fresh fruit, vegetables, seeds, cuttings and plants from market gardens across the Wimmera.
Event co-organiser Paul Kuhne said the produce swap events had been running for a couple of years.
“It started as a way for people to share their unused produce with the community,” he said.
“This allows them to be sustainable and not waste good food that could be used by someone else.
“All leftover food is donated to the Salvation Army.”
Food accepted at the event includes vegetables, fruit, eggs, seeds, seedlings, preserves, jams and sauces.
Mr Kuhne said the swaps were usually on the third Sunday of each month at Sawyer Park, starting at 11.30am.
