Member for Western Victoria Jaala Pulford congratulated Tyler Wilde, 9, who received the Emergency Services Telecommunications Authority (ESTA) award for keeping calm under pressure and calling Victoria’s triple zero service to seek assistance.
Tyler was among the young people honoured at the 14th annual Junior Triple Zero Hero Awards.
Ms Pulford said Tyler kept calm and knew just what to do when faced with an emergency.
Tyler helped save his grandmother’s life after a fall by calmly calling triple zero, and then followed instructions from the operator until an ambulance arrived.
Ms Pulford said Tyler’s story was a timely reminder to all Victorians about the importance of teaching children how to identify, confidently react to and report legitimate emergencies by calling triple zero.
