Fresh off a one-point win over Nhill, Stawell’s players are focused on making it two wins in a row.
Warriors co-coach Damian Joiner said keeping that momentum is crucial.
“Last weekend was sort of like a kick start to our season,” he said.
“Last year we failed to gain any forward momentum so it is important we put in a good performance against the Saints.” Stawell will go into the game with a similar lineup as the one that defeated Nhill last weekend.
...we will have to be on our toes
- Damian Joiner
Joiner said a consistency of the same group of players is important to help maintain forward momentum.
“We have only had one game of footy in the last two months so getting the same guys on the park together is big for us,” he said.
The Saints will be just as desperate as Stawell to pick up the four points, having failed to record a victory in their first two games of 2018.
The Warriors are wary of their opponents and their current situation.
“Their a good team and have been for a while. They have a point to prove so we will have to be on our toes,” Joiner said. “We will just play to our strengths. We know they are a running team so our defensive structures will have to be at their best.”
