Horsham’s Kelly Miller and Sally Pymer completed the Ironman, while Ararat’s Cam Evans completed the half Ironman.
Miller finished second in her 35-39 age group, while Pymer claimed a personal best and finished sixth in the 45-49 age group.
Pymer said both her and Miller were pleased with their efforts.
“Kelly came second and did amazing and I beat my personal best by about a minute,” she said.
“I was happy with that, because I was a bit nauseous in the middle. I had to slow down and walk a bit so I was pretty happy to get a personal best.
“Getting on the podium is always good, but I’m more about competing against myself rather than anyone else.
“My run could have been better, but I have to be happy with getting a personal best.”
Both Miller and Pymer along with Susie Ellis have all qualified to compete at the Ironman world championships in South Africa in September. Pymer said the event in Port Macquarie was a good test before heading overseas.
“We didn’t expect to qualify for South Africa, so this was the main event we were aiming for,” she said.
“This will be our last event before South Africa, so it will be a bit hard to train during winter.
“This was twice the distance of what we will do in South Africa, so it was good training for when we get there.”
