VICROADS is incorporating resident feedback into the final designs for a new turbo intersection in Horsham.
The authority announced in December it planned to upgrade the roundabout near the Wimmera River Bridge to improve safety and allow more continuous flow of traffic in certain lanes.
The changes mean the roundabout at the intersection of Stawell Road, O’Callaghan’s Parade and McPherson Street will be replaced with a traffic island, removing the option of a right-hand turn from McPherson Street.
VicRoads’ western region acting regional director Mal Kersting said the authority had consulted with Horsham residents about plans for the intersection.
VicRoads has also spoken to Horsham Rural City Council – including members of council’s bicycle advisory committee – and business owners about the intersection design.
“Following further consultation with residents, we're currently in the process of incorporating their feedback into our final designs to make sure we get the best outcome for everyone,” Mr Kersting said.
“We'll share those designs with the community ahead of our planned start date in October, when the weather is more favourable after winter.”
The turbo intersection is due to be completed in late November.
The state government announced $20 million in January for a range of Western Highway upgrades, including about $300,000 for the Horsham project.
