An under-13s, under-15s and under-17s side will tackle the best teams from across the zone in a big challenge.
The Horsham District league’s netball co-ordinator Gaynor Baker said the tournament provided another stepping stone for the juniors in their netball.
“Some of our elite players such as Sacha McDonald started representing our league and now she is in an Australian squad – you have to start somewhere,” she said.
“They are good sports people and we expect them to have a great day.
“They all respect each other which is fantastic and the teams are all very diverse in their skills. They will be up against some very skilled teams, but all we ask is that they give all they have.”
Rebecca McIntyre will coach the under-17s side, Michelle Wilde the under-15s and Seona Maybery the under-13s.
The sides will be looking to improve from their positive results at the recent Golden City Netball Association Tournament in Bendigo, where they also came up against representative sides from across the state.
“We hope the teams have a great experience not only representing themselves, but their clubs and our league,” Ms Baker said.
“I’m sure they all will take away a little something that they would not have otherwise, and that includes the coaches. Not only are the players watched by selectors for talent identification but so are our coaches and umpires, so good luck to all.”
