Last year, Greg became the first Australian to be the elected world head – or Taoiseach – of the O’Mahony clan.
A dual Australian-Irish citizen since 2004, Greg said he was keen to link kin together, ideally at upcoming events in Ireland and Australia.
The annual O Mahony Society gathering of the clan will be held in County Cork from June 22-25. East Fremantle Bowls Club in WA will host a Sunday get-together on June 3.
“My family was part of an Irish diaspora that sees O’Mahonys, Mahoneys and Mahonys and many variations of the spelling in many places,” Greg, 70, said.
“My grandfather came to Australia, sponsored by a brother, in the 1880s.
“Programs like Who do you think you are? have built an interest to discover roots and heritage.
“I believe we all have a duty to document our family heritage for those who come after, and that it starts now!
“The O Mahony Society fosters study on the history of our clan, promoting interest in Irish culture and heritage and friendships.”
