Despite leading for the majority of the contest, Horsham District’s under-18s could not hold on for the win.
Ellinbank and District turned it on in the final term to overrun Horsham – the final score 11.6 (75) to 9.6 (60).

Horsham District’s under-16s co-coach Brett Thompson said he was pleased with his side’s efforts.
“Ellinbank was a bit stronger in the contest and started well kicking four goals, but I thought we played really well,” he said.
“We dominated the second quarter but couldn’t convert and they kicked a few in the third. We had 10 scoring shots to 15 but they just kicked straighter.”
Horsham District’s captain Jack Hickmott said the interleague experience was a great one.
“The experience was really good and the football was much more intense than regular club footy,” he said.
“We got used to the pace in the last quarter but overall I thought we played pretty well.”

The under-16s Horsham District side fought bravely but went down to Ellinbank and District in the morning in Ballarat. .
Ellinbank was simply too quick, scoring freely in the opening half with some big forwards doing most of the damage.
Horsham District kicked a few goals in the last quarter to bring the margin down, ending up losing 12.3 (75) to 6.4 (40).
