Ellinbank was simply too quick and scored the first four goals of the game to set up a handy lead.
Horsham District had the majority of the play in the second quarter and looked to reduce the margin. The side could not capitalise on its opportunities, scoring just the one goal.
Ellinbank then wrestled back the contorl in the third term, kicking away to a handy lead.
Horsham District matched Ellinbank’s intensity in the last quarter and kicked a few goals to bring the margin down, ending up losing 12.3 (75) to 6.4 (40).
Horsham District’s co-coach Brett Thompson said he was pleased with his side’s efforts.
“Ellinbank was a bit stronger and started well kicking four goals, but I thought we played really well,” he said.
“We had 10 scoring shots to 15 and they just kicked straighter.
“We needed to kick a few more goals in the second quarter where we dominated.”
Horsham captain Jack Hickmott said he enjoyed the interleague football experience.
“The interleague experience was really good and the football was much more intense than regular club footy,” he said.
“We started to get used to the intensity throughout the game and I thought we played well.”
