As was the result the week prior, the Roosters were no match for the Saints who ran away with a comfortable victory. The Saints kept South Warrnambool goalless in the match.
Saints coach Mat Taylor said the team played well.
“It was a great day and yes we won convincingly but it wasn’t all about winning,” he said.
“It felt a lot closer than the scoreline but all of our training paid off in the end. We were probably a bit more polished than the other team.
“We took about 20 players and they had a lot of fun despite the cold and wintery conditions.”
Taylor said Gabby O’Brien was the best on the ground for the Horsham Saints.
“Gabby O’Brien was probably the best on ground,” he said.
“Her and Meaghan Polner played really, really well.
“Meaghan kicked three goals for the game and Jess Cannane played well too.
“There were quite a few of our players who played good games. We had a good spread.”
The Saints hosted South Warrnambool in Horshan last week.
After playing two exhibition matches in two weeks, Taylor said there were no more games set in stone for this season.
“They all said they would love to play another game and have a crack, but there aren’t a lot of opportunities out there for them,” he said.
“We just have to take each week as it comes and see what happens now.”
Taylor said there might be an opportunity to organise a friendly game against the Horsham Demons, who have been struggling to field a full team so far.
“I’m not sure if we will get another game in this season – we might have a chat to Horsham Demons to see if they want to play a game at some point,” he said.
