Tigers coach Tim Bone said his side just needs to put a consistent four quarters together in order to give itself a chance.
“We’ve played well in patches but there is so much quality in this league that you can’t drop off at all,” he said.
He said his side had been working hard in between games to try and cut down on skill errors which have ended as turnovers.
“That’s what has cost us a lot of goals so far,” he said. “We’ve been focused on it over the past couple of weeks – you try to train as you play but you can only really work on some things in games.”
Nhill ruckman Ben Jones was a late withdrawal from the Wimmera league’s match against Bellarine at the weekend. Bone said it was more of a precautionary measure because of some general soreness.
“He’s been massive for us so far this season and will be big again on Saturday – it all starts with him in the middle,” he said. “Our leaders have been really good so far and we just need our younger brigade to take a bit of a step up as well.”
Saints coach Luke Fisher knows that it will be a tough game at Davis Park.
“From what I know Nhill are always hard to play at home,” he said.
“They play the ground really well and we’ll have to be aware of how they set up. It will be important for us to create space up forward and be patient instead of just bombing it in.”
