The Youth Premier League was formerly known as the state championships and has been re-branded.
The youth program will feature some differences for the upcoming season – not only has the name been changed but additional games will be played and the under-18 boys will focus solely on Twenty20 cricket.
Stephen Field has been selected to manage the Western Waves program.
“The Western Waves male and female cricketers will not only experience the best of the facilities, but be engaged in activities around strength and conditioning, wellness, technical development and game sense,” he said.
The Western Waves junior squads will begin their preparations during the July school holidays in Melbourne.
The squads will be reduced to 13 for the competition starting in October and running through till January.
