Horsham reclaimed top spot in the Ballarat and District Soccer Association Div two when it defeated Ballarat Red 4-3 on Sunday.
Three goals were scored in four minutes in an eventful first half.
Ballarat’s Lachlan Dempsey scored a simple goal after a Matthew Hadden mistake on the 34th minute.
Noah Talbot created something out of nothing three minutes later, getting on the end of a Reuben Macchia corner. He volleyed the ball into the bottom corner to draw Horsham level.
Horsham goalkeeper, Elijah Macchia, was at fault for the second Ballarat goal – it came on the 38th minute.
Elijah attempted a quick throw to Reuben but failed to see Brendan Pym, who intercepted the pass and eased past Horsham’s out-of-position defence to score.
Horsham was dominant but two mistakes from the Falcons defensive unit helped Ballarat to a 2-1 lead at half time.
A change in formation proved fruitful as Horsham dominated with its slick passing and chance creation.
A seven minute goal-scoring masterclass by July Htoo and Talbot saw Horsham flip the game on its head.
Tired Falcons struggled in the final 10 minutes.
A sloppy foul by Reuben in the box resulted in a penalty goal by Ballarat, the Horsham defence proved too stable for Ballarat and ran out the game.
Horsham will play Buninyong in Horsham on Sunday in round 11.
