The side was overran in the last quarter by the Allies after leading at the last break to lose a low-scoring match 10.11 (71) to 6.12 (48).
Vic Country experienced more success in its first game of the under-16 girls national championships with a 6.9 (45) to 2.2 (14) win against NSW-ACT.
The Rebels were represented by six players in the winning team including Maggie Caris, Renee Saultis, Stephanie Glover and Isobella Robson.
The under-18 Vic boys side will travel to Adelaide to play South Australia in its next game on Saturday.
The under-16 girls will play Vic Metro in their next game as a curtain-raiser to the match between the two sides’ opening game of the under-18 girls national championships.
