A film crew spent three-days in Kaniva filming eighteen girls for the short movie, which was about guiding and the community.
Kaniva Girl Guides unit leader Helen Hobbs said the girl’s involvement in the short film created immense excitement around the entire town.
“The short film has created a real buzz for the whole town and it provided the girls with an amazing opportunity to be a part of filming it,” she said.
Ms Hobbs said the film explored the daily life of girls who are growing up in rural Victoria. She said the group was filmed participating in various guiding activities, which included science experiments, community service and leadership projects.
“Girl Guides Victoria provides programs where girls can celebrate their shared sense of belonging in the community and are free to be themselves. The non-profit organisation supports girls and women in leadership, and enables girls to explore everything from volunteering to canoeing,” she said.
Ms Hobbs said the short film would also celebrate the Kaniva community’s fundraising support for the Girl Guides. She said the community’s support would help the group attend the upcoming Jamboree in Sydney. The Jamboree is an enormous camp for Girl Guides from around the world to attend.
Girl Guides Victoria worked in collaboration with the state government and New Mac Video Agency to create the short film.
