Horsham Saints travelled to Central Park to take on the Stawell Warriors, going down 5.15 (45) to 1.0 (6).
It was the Warriors’ sixth win from the 10-round competition.
Saints coach Mat Taylor said the Warriors showed great sportsmanship, assisting his side with numbers.
“We have to give full credit to Stawell, they played a great game and loaned us some players for the day,” he said.
“We were very thankful for that as we were a bit short.
“We probably played our best team game for the year.”
Taylor said his side had had a tough season results wise but had all improved skill wise.
“It was a tough season but the girls have been playing in new positions and taking on leadership roles and have definitely come out of it with better skills than at the start,” he said.
Meanwhile at City Oval in Horsham the Demons went down to the league’s best side Hamilton Kangaroos 6.8 (44) to 2.1 (13).
The whole league will meet on Sunday at Hamilton for position play offs. The Saints will face Timboon for ninth place, Horsham (4th) will play Portland (3rd) and Stawell (5th) will meet Old Collegians (6th).
Horsham coach Terry Arnel said the girls had shown a lot of enthusiasm throughout the season.
“I’ve been really impressed – it’s been four months of training and games and attendance and improvement has been there the whole time,” he said.
