The Horsham Saints Cricket Club vice-president is acting as the user group project coordinator and said there had been a number of positive recent meetings to move the project forward.
“Over the past couple of weeks I’ve had some really good discussions with the council representatives who are running the project,” he said.
“We have engaged the earthworks contractor while finalising the drainage and irrigation details. Everything will be set to start on schedule in September.”

Carroll said the plan was still to complete the project during summer so that there would be no interruptions to the football season in 2019.
“Of course that all depends on a lot of things which are out of our control such as the weather,” he said.
“The program that has been laid out indicates that the ground will be available pretty much as the season starts.
“People can then expect that it will be a premier surface.”
Carroll said the users groups have come together to ensure the quality of the finished product will meet all of their needs.
“It’s certainly nice and reassuring to know that we’ve got contractors available to do the work,” he said.
“All of the users groups are 100 per cent committed to making sure we get the best product that we can.”
Carroll said the user group also continued to investigate ways to reduce the impact of corellas at the sporting precinct in a sustained manner.
“There wouldn’t be much point in spending all that money and still having that problem,” he said.
“We certainly want to work towards resolving the issue of corella damage over the long term.”
