The couple married at Dimboola Methodist Church on June 22, 1946, after meeting one year beforehand at a friend’s party.
Following their wedding, the young couple moved in with Mr Rodda’s grandparents in Horsham, until a home was finished on the family farm in the Tarranyurk district.
My dear wife is in care at the Lutheran nursing home and when she smiles, everyone smiles. She has a lovely nature.
- Howard Rodda
Mr and Mrs Rodda lived on the property until 1976 when their son Leonard moved to Queensland. They followed their son to Queensland and made Yeppoon home for 11 years, but they later returned to the Wimmera to be closer to their daughter Felicity.

Mrs Rodda, who is 92, suffered a fall last year and is now in care, but Mr Rodda visits her every single day.
“My dear wife is in care at the Lutheran nursing home and when she smiles, everyone smiles. She has a lovely nature,” he said. “When the grandkids visit she comes to life – she adores them.”
Mr Rodda said he did not know the secret to a long and happy marriage, but it was important for each person to have their own interests.
