The Wimmera Mail-Times sales manager Clint King said the event gives shoppers the chance to get out and about and support local business in the process.
“By all reports it looks like Friday will be the warmest day of the week, so hopefully the sun's shining and the community are grabbing themselves a bargain by shopping locally and enjoying some retail therapy,” he said.
Horsham Rural City Council will provide free parking in the city centre, with all parking meters marked with the Fri-YAY logo and 'Free Parking' to promote the day.
Motorists must still move their car after one hour however, to allow everyone the opportunity to get into the central business district.
The Wimmera Mail-Times has created a Facebook campaign to promote the event, and are giving away $1000 worth of Shop Horsham gift cards to 20 people who share the post, and tell us who they'd love to take shopping with them.
The Shop Horsham gift cards will be divided into 20 x $50 gift cards and can be used towards something of a greater value.
Any initiative that generates activity in our CBD is most welcome and consumers can be assured of a fantastic day of specials at the participating businesses

The gift cards must be used today and are only valid at businesses participating in Fri-YAY.
“The Business Horsham executive committee happily partner with The Wimmera Mail-Times for this annual stock-take sale,” said the Business Horsham committee.
“The committee are grateful to The Wimmera Mail-Times for utilising the Shop Horsham gift card in their Facebook promotion in the lead up to the sale.
“Any initiative that generates activity in our CBD is most welcome and consumers can be assured of a fantastic day of specials at the participating businesses.
Participating businesses include Forty Winks, managers Peter and Di Hayes noting that the business will hold a massive stocktake sale that will continue until July 1.
The Wimmera Mail-Times' mascot Super Scoop will make an appearance in the CBD, and no doubt be keen to pose for a few selfies with the locals.
