The Storm won the contest, finishing the game without a bench, 15.7 (97) to 10.9 (69).
Inkster said he was happy with his teams’ performance in the opening quarter.
“They did come back at us, so it wasn’t as good of a second quarter. A few mistakes were pretty costly for us. We got back on top in the third quarter and managed to hold on in the last,” he said.
Inkster said Shane Maslin was phenomenal in the second half, he said Maslin was influential in the Storm’s victory.
“He was outstanding in the third quarter with his clearance work. Best quarter an individual has played for us all year,” he said.
“Peter Weir kept us in it.”
Weir scored nine goals, Inkster said Weir scored five of them in the first quarter.
“Those two were the difference in the end,” he said.
Inkster played his first senior game for the Storm.
“We’re already at rock bottom when I have to play,” he said.
Rams assistant coach Gary Hallam said it was good to play against one of the top teams in the competition.
“They have really good structures in play. To match them up like we did, with the team we had, that’s a credit,” he said.
“(Storm) obviously did their homework on us and played to their strengths, it was a good game.”
