There was six goals registered between the two sides in each quarter of the 21.19 (145) to 3.5 (23) Giants win.
Giants coach Coleman Schache said he was pleased to see his side play another full four quarters of football.
“We went over there expecting a tough game and we were able to put into practice what we’ve been working on,” he said.
“It was also pleasing to see that each time Nhill got a goal we were able to respond fairly quickly.”
Schache lauded the tackling pressure of Brock Orval while Tim Sanford limited the impact of Nhill full forward Scott Hughes.
The Giants have now faced every club in their first season of Wimmera league football.
Schache said his side had learned it needed to be even more consistent in order to compete against the best sides.
“When you drop off for periods against sides like the Saints and Demons they will whack on five goals quickly,” he said.
“Working on that consistency starts at training – if you don’t drop of on the training track then you will stay in game for longer periods of time.”
The win was soured by a hamstring injury to Riley Cook which is expected to keep him out for at least a couple of weeks.
“It’s not too bad so hopefully we’ll have him back in a couple of weeks,” Schache said.
