Local dance school The Dancers Zone hosted two shows for its mid-year concerts.
Students performed 35 routines in a range of styles, including tap, jazz, lyrical and musical theatre. Principal dance instructor Lynne McKenzie said the event went off without a hitch.
“Considering the show wasn’t run through in its entirety from start to finish, everything went amazing,” she said.
“Everyone had their part to play and I want to thank everyone for their help.”
She said one of the highlights of the night were the junior dancers.
“The seniors are always sensational, but I always love seeing the little ones get up on stage, some for the first time in front of a big crowd,” she said.
“They love getting up on stage with the parents or loved ones in the crowd.
“It can be pretty daunting for them, but it’s good for them to get the experience, that’s why we do two shows a year.
“We had one of the babyballet dancers get quite nervous during the first show, but by the time the second one rolled around she couldn’t wipe the smile off her face.”
Ms McKenzie said students were now preparing for exams in August.
“We have our next show in November and we’re getting straight into practising new routines,” she said.
She said new dancers were always welcome to come along to classes to try out.
“We have classes for tap, jazz, hip-hop, musical theatre, babyballet and lyrical – which is like ballet,” she said.
