Injuries compounded a sluggish first half of the season but coach Al McKinnon said his side will continue to work hard.
“At training on Tuesday night I told the boys that we just need to get out of our shells,” he said. “We want to do some more of the little things well and build on it.
“If we’re getting belted we might as well get belted trying as hard as we can.”
He said signs of improvement for his side could include winnings quarters or just managing to control the flow of play for longer.
“We’ve had four young kids running around in the team and there could be few more that float through by the end of the year,” he said.
“It has been a good opportunity to get some more football into those young kids.”
Minyip-Murtoa are a chance to welcome back Damian Cameron, Sam Winfield and Kieran Delahunty.
