Hose signed for the Bombers at the back end of 2017 and has coached the young team to three wins so far this year, one less than they recorded in 2017.
“I’ve really enjoyed working with the group so far. Working with a young group for one year… I need longer to achieve what we want to achieve,” he said.
Hose said he had the goal of playing finals football in 2018.
“Whether that’s still achievable or not, we will see. We just wanted to improve on where the club was at last year and wanted to build to be playing consistent finals football in the coming years,” he said.
The Bombers have a plentiful crop of young footballers and Hose said retaining their services was a priority for him and the club.
“We want to create a culture where they are keen to hang around and have success around their home club,” he said.
“Keeping that group together is something that appealed to me to take on the role for two more years.”
Previously, Hose coached at Beulah before the Mallee Football League folded.
He said a major difference between the two teams was player age.
“That was another challenge, which I’ve enjoyed,” he said.
“It was a chance to see whether I could coach, to see if I could develop a group.”
Hose said the culture at the club was great for young families.
Club president Tim Kelly said Hose had impressed everyone at the club.
“He has outstanding credentials. We are very impressed with what he has done this year and we wanted him for another two years,” he said.
Mr Kelly said Hose’s leadership as a coach and club member has been noticeable.
“His ideas and structures are great. He’s probably one of the best coaches out there. To have a guy like that on board with us is fabulous,” he said.
“We are absolutely rapt to sign him for another two years.
“He’s not long out of football and our young kids are looking to him for that next step in leadership.
“It was good to throw that two-year deal at him, and we’ll re-assess it midway through 2020.”
Mr Kelly said the club had not set specific targets for Hose to reach.
“We haven’t put the pressure on him. This year I hope we would be knocking on the door of finals, but there is no timeframe for this to happen,” he said.
“We will be thereabouts this year for finals. The vibe around the club is really exciting.”
