The side slumped to its first loss of the season in round 10 but will likely bounce back with a strong win against Dimboola on Saturday.
Roberts said some of his side’s decision making and general skills around the ground had not been up to scratch in recent games.
“We trained really hard on Tuesday night and were able to again on Thursday,” he said. “Obviously we didn’t want to get beaten against the Saints but sometimes when you’re winning it can cover up some cracks.
“We’ll be back out hunting the football and contest hard come the weekend.”
Jordyn Burke, Darcy Taylor, John Wood and Josh Mibus are all potential inclusions for the side over the coming month after injury layoffs.
Roberts said that while he would like those players to return to his side there would not be any risks taken.
“It would be good to get them back in so we can gel together and get their match fitness up but we don’t want them doing further damage,” he said.
“They won’t be rushed back in, we’ll wait to they are 100 per cent. It has been good to get a run into some under-17 players as well as reward some good form in the reserves while those guys have been out.
“I’ll be excited when I have 30 players to pick from instead of 23 or 24 though.”
The match will also serve as the traditional annual indigenous round clash between the two clubs.
