Club president and past player Rod Weidemann said the Panthers defeated Natimuk in 1996, Goroke in 1997 and Kalkee in 1998. 

“Obviously that was a special time, to win three premierships in a row,” he said. 

Weidemann had the opportunity to play in two of the three premiership wins, against Goroke and Kalkee. 

“I was overseas in 1996, I went overseas mid-year which was a bit silly,” he said. 

“It was fantastic, I felt like I was a bit more of a contributor at that part of my football life. There is nothing quite like winning a premiership.

“We were lucky enough to go through 1998 undefeated. We finished on top in 1997 and played Goroke for the last time and in 1996 we were probably underdogs.”

Weidemann also played in the Panthers premiership victory against Quantong in 1990. 

Weidemann said the day doesn’t just recognise the footballers who played in the premiership victories. 

“It is to recognise the contribution past players have had at the club who played netball and football,” he said.

“Without past players we wouldn’t have a club now. It’s extremely important to recognise them.

“The ones that played in premierships realise how lucky they were but it’s not just about the premierships. Not every player is lucky enough to play in a premiership.”

Weidemann said senior footballers will play in a commemorative guernsey which will have the dates of the premierships printed, he said they will be auctioned off at the end of the day. 

“There will be a marquee set up for the past players to hang out and we are auctioning the jumpers off at the end of the senior game,” he said. 

The guernsey’s have the names of each player in each team that won in the three-peat. 

“It will give us time to reminisce memories and get back together,” Weidemann said.
