Horsham Highway Patrol intercepted the suspended Melbourne driver in his 20s driving 160km/h in a 100km/h zone between Nhill and Kiata.
Horsham Highway Patrol Acting Sergeant Stewart Howarth said a three-year-old was in the car at the time of the incident.
“His female passenger was also a suspended driver,” he said.
“The three-year-old was not properly restrained in the vehicle.”
The man’s vehicle will be impounded by police for 30 days.
“The man was interviewed at Nhill Police Station and charged with exceeding the speed limit, driving while suspended, failing to restrain a passenger and other charges,” he said.
“He will appear in court at a later date.”
Acting Sergeant Howarth wanted to encourage members of the public to alert police when they encountered dangerous driving.
“If you are driving anywhere and you see another person driving erratically, pull over to the side of the road and call Triple Zero (000),” he said.
“By calling Triple Zero, they will be able to allocate the incident to the nearest patrol unit.
“The number of people that we have pulled over for excessive speeding over the last few weeks is appalling.
“Public members need to take a proactive measure to help catch these drivers.
“All they need to provide to Triple Zero is a general description of the vehicle, the direction it was travelling in and, if possible, the number plate.”
