In June the state government allocated $400,000 towards the grants program.
Grants of up to $5000 are open to Victorian schools, kindergartens, childcare centres, Scouts, Guides, and youth groups.
Organisations can use the grants to improve biodiversity of the region and educate young people about the state’s environment.
Agriculture Minister Jaala Pulford encouraged Wimmera groups to apply for the fund.
“These grants will help us deliver better outcomes for the environment while encouraging people to get involved at a young age,” she said.
“I really do believe that giving kids hands-on experience outdoors helps them learn about the world beyond the classroom.”
