Jenny Grover, singing teacher and coach, entertained us with three beautiful songs, the first from ‘Les Miserables’, ‘On my own’, then ‘The stars and the moon’, and finally the lovely Barbra Streisand song, ‘People’. All very different but most enjoyable. Jenny was thanked by Diane Ballinger.
A dear foundation member and Life member, Alice Laird was remembered with a minute’s silence following her recent death.
Alice enjoyed her time with Probus, and we extend an invitation to any ladies that feel they would like to join us at the RSL to come along, the first Monday of the month, 9.45am for a 10am start; you would be made welcome.
Our objectives are to advance intellectual and cultural interests amongst retired and semi-retired people, by providing opportunities for activities and fellowship, social interaction and above all, friendship.
We have a short ‘Good news’ moment, and this put a smile on everyone's face, as a member shared her embarrassing encounter with a defibulator, proving that sometimes it's best to leave things alone.
Our Trips ladies hope we will join them at 1pm, July 24, at Wimmera Lodge, Dumesny Street, meeting at the activity room to share afternoon tea with the residents.
Next meeting, August, is our fashion parade with Maria da Ros. Lidia will share her lovely fashions that are always offered at a wonderful sale price, so come along and enjoy.
Lucky door prize, Elaine Dymke.
