She worked as a nurse before marrying Bob Devlin (passed). The couple had three children – Carolyn Kirkwood, Jan Nichols and John Devlin (passed).
In her later years, Mrs Devlin has been devoted to her nine grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren.
Mrs Devlin’s daughter Carolyn Kirkwood said her mother was involved in many clubs and groups during her lifetime.
“She was very involved in the Horsham Golf Club; she started on a 36 handicap, played for many years and ended up on a 36 handicap,” she said.
“So she didn’t improve, but a lot of fun was had. She was also a part of bowling clubs, the Lutheran Ladies Guild, Probus and Horsham Agriculture Society’s Ladies Committee, always taking on official duties.”
After her children grew up, Mrs Devlin returned to work.
“She became the supervisor of the Lutheran Rest Home,” she said.
“When she retired from that, her life really just revolved around her family.”
Mrs Kirkwood said her mother led an amazing life.
“She taught us all that the most important thing is family,” she said.
“I always wanted to be just like her when I grew up.
“She’s living at home still with Alzheimer’s disease, but she has nurses come to see her everyday.”
