Blair Farms of Kalkee set the new record lamb price for Horsham Regional Livestock Exchange today they sold 24 lambs for $262 breaking the record the family set just two weeks ago.
Just a fortnight ago the same vendor set the old record of $260 with 48 lambs breaking the previous record of $250.
Selling agent Wayne Driscoll, Rodwells, said the Blair Farms lambs weighed an average 33kg and carried a $12 skin.
He said the lambs were out of first cross ewes by Poll Dorset rams.
The National Livestock Market Reporting Service reported lamb supply dropped a little at Horsham this week with 5672 head yarded, including about 1000 Merino lambs.
The service said quality ranged from average to good, but with not as much weight through the yarding.
The usual buying group attended and competed strongly in a mostly dearer market, which at times saw extremes, where quality trade weight lambs made close to 900c/kg cwt.
The report quoted lambs sold from $8 to $10 dearer and up to $20/head dearer at times, as processors, exporters and domestic buyers sought supplies.
