Horsham managed to win the game by two goals, Horsham won on its home deck 55-53.
A manic first quarter saw the Warrack Eagles humbled by the young Horsham team, the Demons scored a massive 21 goals to Warrack Eagles eight.
Thanks to a flawless first-quarter performance, the Demons were set up for the remained of the tie.
Warrack Eagles won the remaining three quarters, but the challenge was too much and the players couldn’t repair the damage caused in the first.
Demon goal shooter Emma Buwalda was on-song once again, scoring 47 of her teams 55 goals.
Demons coach Pauline Butler said it was an amazing first quarter.
“We knew it was important to get off to a pretty good start, it’s probably the best I have seen the girls play,” she said.
“We’ve always known we’ve had the capacity to play like that… we were probably a little bit in shock ourselves I think, at how well we played. I was very impressed with the girls.”
Butler said she was definitely disappointed with the way her team responded in the second quarter.
“We just weren’t able to sustain that intensity for the remaining three quarters. At the same time we knew Warracknabeal were a quality side and knew they would come back at us and come back hard,” she said.
“We knew they would make the changes to shut that down.”
Butler said Olivia Jones was named best on court.
“She was just very consistent on the day. Often it is hard to be consistent for four quarters. All the girls played their roles and played their part but consistency wise, she was probably the most consistent all day,” she said.
Butler said belief helped her team run out the game.
Warrack Eagles co-coach Sarah Spicer said Horsham played perfect netball in the opening quarter.
“They were attacking, had good pressure on us and really bottled us up,” she said.
“They didn’t do anything wrong and didn’t play as well as we would like.”
Spicer said her team did have a chance to draw the game up in the final quarter. .
“We did have a few chances to get even, and when you get even, you never know what might happen,” she said.
“They just kept us at bay and got the win.”
Elsewhere in the association, 52 goals was enough for Ararat to secure its sixth win on the trot against Southern Mallee Giants, the Rats won 52-33.
Horsham Saints shot a massive 82 goals when it took on Stawell, the Warriors still managed to score 51 goals.
Minyip-Murtoa defeated Nhill 59 to 32.
