Acting Inspector Dave Ellis said police from the Crime Investigation Unit arrested a 32-year-old Jeparit man and a 16-year-old Horsham teenage male on Monday.
“Police executed three search warrants, one on Broadway Street, Jeparit and two in Horsham, including a property on Byrne Street,” he said.
“The two males were arrested in relation to an alleged theft from a house on Hennessy Street, Horsham.
“Furthermore, they were arrested in relation to the alleged theft of power tools from the Warracknabeal School Precinct site on Werrigar Street last week. It is estimated that the tools are valued at more than $14,000.
“During the warrant execution at Jeparit, four alleged cannabis plants were found along with a small quantity of ammunition.”
Acting Inspector Ellis said the males would face multiple charges.
“They were charged with numerous offences including burglary, theft, the cultivation of cannabis and deception,” he said.
The pair were remanded by police overnight. They were set to appear at Horsham Magistrates’ Court and Horsham Children’s Court on Tuesday.
Acting Inspector Ellis said police were chasing up the owners of the stolen items.
“To date, we have been able to reunite some of the tools with the owners,” he said.
He said police were continuing their investigations and talking to a third male.
“We encourage anyone with information to contact Horsham Police Station on 5382 9200 or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000,” he said.
