The Jeparit Angling Club will receive a grant of $55,500 to install a floating pontoon on the Wimmera River at Jeparit and the Murtoa Angling Club will receive $31,520 to build a new all-abilities fishing jetty at Lake Marma.
The third project will be managed by the Hindmarsh Shire and will use $54,700 to install a floating pontoon at Nhill Lake.
Jeparit Anglers Club president Rohan Viljoen said the funding was a welcome benefit to the community.
“Secretary Paul Holmes and myself put in an application grant for a new fishing pontoon, similar to the one we have already near the caravan park, but this one will go next to the little island near the angling club itself,” he said.
“We are hoping to have it for the fishing competition next year. It’s going to form part of a vision I have for a precinct at the clubhouse.”
