Around the branches
East Wimmera, Marnoo held a very successful Christmas in July with 60 people attending and enjoying a traditional Christmas festive meal, held at Wallaloo Golf Club.
On Saturday, August 11 and 12, 10am to 4pm, at the Marnoo Hall the branch will hold a craft weekend with Anne Donaldson from Warrnambool - creating a catch-all carry bag, sewing bag with lots of pockets. If you need more details contact Janice Henry, 5359 2236.
Central Wimmera, Dunmunkle held a very successful two-course luncheon at the Minyip Memorial Hall where home-style cooking at its best was served. First course was a wide range of hot and tasty casseroles, followed by an even bigger variety of desserts, both hot and cold, ranging from apple sponge, yummy butterscotch pudding, custard, through to trifles, lemon meringue pie, pavlova and more.
As always, the CWA ladies catered well, with a well-stocked stall of home baking and produce also a feature. Sixty diners went away well satisfied whilst the ladies raised $620 from the meal and a further $100 from the stall. The ladies thanked all who helped in any way to the success of the day, and I for one took home a yummy honey cream-filled sponge.
Earlier in the month Dunmunkle met for its meeting with the roll call being "What I did yesterday”. Fortunately, all could remember so that was a reassuring sign. Craft leader Bev Pearl reported that seven beanies, two pre-hats and bootees, plus two headbands had been forwarded to HQ.
Competition results were as followed: single bloom, 1st, A Hicksa and 2nd, M Tobin.
Multiple Bloom: 1st, L Krause and 2nd, N Boschen. Green Arrangement: 1st, L Krause and 2nd. M Tobin.
Handmade coat hanger: 1st, L Krause and 2nd A Hicks. Lucky door prize: Helen Barry.

Volunteers for shifts at the Royal Melbourne Show to help in many areas, e.g. cooking, sewing, lunches, morning and afternoon teas, taking the money or selling goods are needed. Please tell your group president if you are able to assist in any way.
Suggestions are wanted for the 2019 country of study. State Conference, 2019 will again be held at Williamstown, with the World Conference in April, there was no time to find another venue, in time.
