The Country Fire Authority and Forest Fire Management Victoria’s burn will take place in the Jilpanger Nature Conservation Reserve about 20 kilometres west of Toolondo between noon and 6pm.
The groups will continue the burn into Friday and patrol the area over the weekend to ensure the fire does not reignite.
The objective of the burn is to reduce the chances of a bushfire in the area and seed crop for red tail black cockatoo.
Roads in the area might be affected, and people are advised to stay clear. Smoke might be visible across the Wimmera.
If you are experiencing any symptoms that might be due to smoke exposure, the Department of Health and Human Services advises you should seek medical advice or call Nurse on Call on 1300 606 024.
