Ararat’s Culling will race against some of world’s top young cyclists in Aigle, Switzerland from August 15-19.

Moyston Primary School, a long time supporter of Culling, will be getting behind her all the way from down under this Friday.

The school will host a green and gold uniform day and sausage sizzle to raise funds for Culling to help cover her costs once she arrives back in Australia.

“Alice would come to our school from time to time and teach the kids about cycling which they absolutely love,” principal Anthony Cain said.

“Being a local sportsperson competing at such a high level we wanted to do our part and do what we can to support Alice in her cycling adventures.”

Culling is one of many great products to have come from the Ararat District Cycling Club.

She has made her way into the Victorian Institute of Sport and will now compete at her second world championships, having raced in Italy last year.

Ararat District Cycling Club president Bruce Hamilton said having someone like Alice from the club compete on the world stage is great for the sport in the region.

“She is still so young with so much ahead of her. She is a great ambassador for us as a club and a town,” he said.

“She’s in pretty good form so anything is possible.

“Alice is a great example of the opportunities cycling can give people.”

The Marian College student is being coached by Olympian and fellow Ararat product Shane Kelly.

“I am grateful for the support from everyone and I will be representing the whole community in Switzerland,” Culling said before leaving for the world championships.
