Business development officer Donna Winfield said the college attracted students from as far as the Gippsland region, South Australia and New South Wales. She said it was promising to see many people travel long distances for the open day.
“The prospective students are all very keen to come study at Longerenong College,” she said. “There has been a lot of interest from students about our quality hands on training.”
She said the advanced diploma of agribusiness management has continued to receive the most interest from students.
Adelaide’s Annabel Palfreyman said she was interested in expanding her knowledge of farming from a business perspective.
“I’m considering agribusiness management because I’m interested in the business side of the farm. It’s really important to know,” she said.
Langhorne Creek’s William Wenzel – who was interested in studying agronomy – found the college’s emphasis on practical-based learning very appealing.
“They have a lot of practical based work, which is a very different experience from university. I want a hands on experience and the smaller classes would be a benefit,” he said.
Penola’s Lucy Butler hoped to study agronomy and agribusiness. She said she heard positive remarks about the college.
“I can see this is a good environment to live, work and studying in,” she said.
